Here at All-American Pest Control, we get a lot of inquiries about bed bugs. People are afraid that they have them and want to know what we can do to find the little bloodsuckers. Here is what your friendly pest control professionals at All-American Pest Control can do to help locate a bed bug infestation inside your home or your business.

Inspection Services

At All-American Pest Control, we have several methods for inspecting for bed bugs.

  1. The first method is what you would expect: our trained pest control technicians come into your home or business and do a manual search for bed bugs. They look in bedding, around the bed, inside the box spring and mattress, in areas near the bed like bedside tables and even inside alarm clocks. They will check any little area where bed bugs are known to hide, including behind pictures on the wall, along the edge of the carpet where it meets the wall and behind outlet covers.  This can be a time consuming task and can cause quite a bit of disruption to your home, but it is the only way our technicians can thoroughly examine your property for these elusive bugs.  Our technicians are good at their jobs and are known to find most bed bug infestations, but are limited to finding bed bugs that are out in the open.

  2. The second inspection method we can perform are canine bed bug inspections.  This is where one of our trained bed bug dogs comes into your property with a certified handler. The dog spends a short period of time sniffing areas of your property, searching with their sensitive noses for the familiar smell of live bed bugs and viable bed bug eggs. Should they find bed bugs, they ‘alert’ their handlers and those areas are recorded. This is a far less time-consuming inspection method that causes very little disruption to your room, belongings and everyday life. Trained bed bug detecting dogs even have a better track record of finding bed bugs than humans, because they can smell bed bugs that are hiding inside objects, behind walls and in areas where the human eye just can’t see.

  3. If you have a vacant home or apartment, you may want to consider a week long rental of a CO2 Bed Bug Monitor. Most bed bug detection contraptions have not proven their effectiveness; however, we have used the NightWatch Bed Bug CO2 Monitor for several years now with good success. We’ll come out to your property to place the CO2 Bed Bug Monitoring Device. Each early morning (around 2 am) the device will emit carbon dioxide to mimic a sleeping person to attract bed bugs. After seven days, we will come back to inspect the bed bug monitoring devices for signs of bed bugs.

  4. The fourth (and least expensive option) is interceptor devices. These small plastic circles are placed underneath the bed legs of your bed. For these simple (yet very effective) devices to work, keep your bed from touching the wall and end tables, and keep your comforter and bed skirt from touching the ground. If your bed is “an island” this simple interceptor devices under your bed legs will keep bed bugs from crawling up your bed.

Once we’ve identified a bed bug problem, we’ll determine the severity of the issue and devise a treatment plan that suits your property and your specific needs.  Our policy is “No bugs and No Bites”, which means that we will continuously work with you until the pests have been entirely eliminated.  Our go-to plan for treatment includes bed bug heat treatments, which is the most effective method for killing bed bugs. We know that at 122°F bed bugs and their eggs will die, so we safely heat up the infested areas to this temperature for a period of time to make sure that all present bed bugs die.  We also know that chemical applications alone do not work, because the eggs of bed bugs are not affected by chemicals and adult bed bugs are increasingly becoming resistant to the chemicals that have previously been used against them.  We offer a wide range of heat applications to suit your specific needs and will work with you to find the bed bug control solution that is right for you.
