What exactly are those teeny bug-like things that are running around your window sill? They are so small they almost look like moving pieces of punctuation. What color are they anyway? They are called clover mites and are members of the arachnid family. These teenie creepy crawlies prefer to be outside feeding off vegetation. They enjoy such delicacies as luscious green lawn grass, clover, various trees, and ornamental shrubs and plants. Once inside they often congregate on warm windowsills and around all those beautiful house plants that you nurture and nurse throughout the year. Your first instinct is to just squish them, but be careful; these guys tend to leave a greasy red stain where they have met their demise.
